Talent for TeamMates Auditions

Students from Lincoln Public middle and high schools are invited to showcase their special talent, compete for amazing prizes and be the finalist to represent their school at the first-ever city-wide talent competition.

The winner of the Talent for TeamMates Competition will have the opportunity to perform during the 2010-2011 Lied Center season and also receive a $100 gift certificate to Dietz Music House.


In order to compete at the Talent for TeamMates Competition, all LPS students or student groups, grade 6 through 12, must participate in an audition taping at their school.

Auditions run September 1st, 2nd, and 3rd and September 7th and 8th. Students should check with their school music director for the audition schedule and performance guidelines. Two to three acts from each school will be selected to participate in a live audition. Those selected to perform at the live audition will be notified by September 15th.


There is no fee for students to participate in the audition process.


Acts that are eligible to audition are soloists, vocal or instrumental, small ensembles, vocal or instrumental, and bands. Traditional and non traditional music acts are welcome.

Lyrics or performances cannot include profanity, discriminatory, racial or sexual content.


The decision of guest and celebrity judges will be final.


The final competition, the Talent for TeamMates Competition event will be held Sunday, Oct. 3rd at St. Mark's Church, 8550 Pioneers Blvd. from 4 to 6 pm.


Advanced tickets will be available at all LPS middle and high schools and through the Lincoln TeamMates office (402) 436-1990. Advance tickets are $5 students/youth (w/valid ID) or $10 adults. At the door: $10 students/youth (w/valid ID) or $15 adults.


All ticket sales from the event go to support the Lincoln TeamMates mentoring program.

Audition Guidelines

For first round auditions:


  • All participants must attend a taping session to have their performance taped for judging at a later time.

  • Each performances must be no more than 3 minutes long from start of performance to end of performance
  • Taping sessions for each school are listed in the schedule below.
  • If you cannot attend your school's taping session, you can attend a session at any school or attend the make up dates listed on the schedule
  • Auditions will be taped on a first come, first served basis
  • Each act will get ONE take to record their audition
  • Any accompaniment music must be on a CD that can be played on a standard CD player
  • You must provide all of your own equipment (i.e. amps, instruments, ect.) for your audition
  • Acts that are eligible to audition include the following:
  • Soloists, vocal or instrumental
  • Small ensembles (i.e. duets, trios), vocal or instrumental
  • Bands
  • Traditional and non-traditional acts welcome
  • Lyrics or performances CAN NOT include profanity, discriminatory, racial, or sexual content
  • Acts will be scored using a common scoring rubric
  • Taped auditions will be reviewed Sept 13th and Sept 14th by a panel of volunteer judges selected by the TeamMates program
  • Those selected to participate in the live audition will be notified by September 15th, 2010
