Our differences make us special. What we share in common is unique. We always seem to smile when we talk to each other. A warm hand on the shoulder always makes by day. The feeling of happiness fills your heart when you know someone is there to listen. When I talk to my TeamMate I know they care. They make the world a better place. A place of friendship.

Graduation Is The Goal For Teammates

The Lincoln TeamMates Mentoring Program is thrilled to announce the graduations of 24 TeamMates students in 2008! The “Celebration for Graduation” was held in the new Commons Area at Lincoln Northeast High School, a great setting for Lincoln TeamMates to announce the 2008 high school graduates. Senior TeamMates mentees, their families and mentors were treated to a wonderful lunch provided by Runza Restaurants and their festive mascot, Dino. Southeast Community College’s Culinary Art Institute provided brilliantly decorated cakes for dessert. Campbell’s Nursery decorated all of the tables with potted spring flowers which were later given to all mentors.

The emcee for the event was Jack Mitchell from KLIN’s Broadcast House. John Baylor, of Baylor Test Prep, was the guest speaker. He provided the graduates with sound advice and inspiration into their next step in life.

The Lincoln TeamMates Mentoring Program took particular pride in announcing 5 scholarship winners. Anthony Procacina, a student at North Star High School, won the Tom and Nancy Osborne Scholarship for $1000. Doug Carlo of US Bank is Tony’s mentor. Anthony will be attending Southeast Community College majoring in culinary arts. Anthony describes his mentor Doug “as a father figure that is always there for him. I know that he is just a phone call away if I ever need to talk to someone.”

The Leadership Resources Scholarship in the amount of $500 was awarded by Boyd Ober to Jessica Rodenbaugh, a student at Lincoln High School. Jessica will be attending Southeast Community College and majoring in nursing. Jessica describes her experience with her mentor Pam Wessel as “AMAZING.” Pam has helped fill a void in her life. Jessica states that she wants to become a mentor herself so she can impact a student’s life the way Pam has done for her.

The Tom and Sara Boatman Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 was awarded to Teonna Wimes, a student at Lincoln High School. Teonna will be attending Southeast Community College and majoring in food service and hospitality programs. Teonna believes that TeamMates has been a great asset to her. She states, “my mentor, Cari Kaup, has been my best friend and older sister, and she has given me good start on my future.”

The Bob FitzSimmons Scholarship in the amount of $500 was awarded to James Evans, a student at Lincoln High School. James will be attending Southeast Community College. He states that his mentor, Todd Eggerling, has been “a great man and friend to him. He and his wife are very close to me. They have taught me that there are people that care and want to help youth become successful.”

The Baer Goff Financial Services Scholarship in the amount of $500 was awarded to McKenzie Stevens, a student at Southeast High School. McKenzie will be attending Southeast Community College and majoring in criminal justice. McKenzie says her mentor, Jeri Kelley, has always been there for her. “She takes the time to listen to me and give good advice.”

These students and their mentors are TeamMates stars. They have impacted the future for each other and this community. The Lincoln TeamMates Program congratulates both the students and their mentors on this achievement.
